Me Me Me, Event Event Event

Dear Readers,

Today’s blog shall be entirely stream-of-consciousness, which is to say, I don’t know exactly what I’m going to talk about. Call it an experiment in midweek blogging (when I’m not hyped about any particular topic).

Right now at work, I have some queries to put together for an SSRS report; some transaction log backups to set up; an SSIS package to modify; and performance to track and troubleshoot.  I’m most looking forward to the performance tuning, and the SSIS work should net me a blog post for Monday.

The other day, Adam Machanic (Twitter) mentioned that more people should know the APPLY operator, so there you are: go read about it.

Session recordings from the recent 24 Hours of PASS are now available for viewing.

I heard yesterday that the February 24Hours of PASS recordings are up.  I think I’ll catch a couple of the sessions I missed the first time around!

Sean’s ”How to Curse in an Interview” (NSFW for language) is up on the MidnightDBA Events page! We had an excellent good time with this one, and the vast majority of the class gave it very high marks.

Hey, I bet you didn’t know we have several recordings from North Texas SQL Server User Group (NTSSUG) meetings on MidnightDBA.com, including Paul Randal and Kimberly Tripp’s recent talk, Tom LaRock’s presentation, Drew Minkin’s, and more. Check out our NTSSUG Video Page for those.

AND we’re all caught up on DBAs@Midnight recordings (no, not on iTunes, but on MidnightDBA.com proper)! Catch up, then catch the live show Friday nights at 11pm CST on http://bit.ly/DBAShow

SQLBits is about to begin, and I wish I were there.

I started a new diet (how exciting, no?) which sounds very interesting, and makes for very engrossing reading. For more, see my personal blog at weowls.wordpress.com (tagged 4HB).

PASS SQLRally ROI Justification. Get the ammunition you need to attend. Register before Apr. 12 and save $100.

SQLRally is coming up fast, and includes some exciting stuff. My Code Sins session there, of course, and the Women in Technology luncheon. Also, I’m participating in a lightening talk late Wednesday, and I want to put together a MidnightDBA after-hours meetup/tweetup there, too. When’s good for you? I’m free…

Join us for PASS Summit 2011, Oct. 10-14, in Seattle. Register early to take advantage of considerable discounts.

Wow, PASS is coming up fast, too, a month early.  I’d better see about the call for speakers, and babysitting, early this year.

Happy days,
Jen McCown
