One of the most common questions we get is, “How do I become a DBA?” Often, it’s “How do I become a DBA with no experience?” Sean and I have decided to answer that question the best way we know how: by talking extensively about it.
Welcome to our newest venture: DBA Roadmap! The DBA Roadmap is our audio seminar that addresses the “soft” (that is, non-tech) side of becoming a SQL Server DBA…though quite truly, about 80-90% of what we have to say would apply to becoming an Oracle DBA, MySQL DBA, or other IT career.
We’ve had quite a lot to say over the years, in person, blogs, and on the webshow, about starting in SQL from the ground floor…now we’re getting it all in one place. The Roadmap is still in production, but it looks like it’s going to be about 5-6 hours of audio downloads, plus transcripts, bonus tracks, and other artifacts and materials.
So if it’s not availble yet, why am I talking about it here? First off, because I’m really really excited about it, and I’m kind of bad at keeping secrets for too long. (Pay no attention to that last sentence, MVP NDA enforcers! I’m really good at keeping your secrets!)
