In regard to the paid version, offering paid support is a common model in the open source community for monetizing a product. The circumstances here are slightly different, but close enough to apply, especially if you market the Pro edition as “enhanced support” as opposed to “enhanced product.”
Someone else also pointed that out. I simply don’t use enough open source stuff to’ve noticed this, but it’s good to know. I also like “enhanced support”, and I may well use that.
