Inappropriate PASS Review

We held the Inappropriate PASS Sessions party last night, and I am shocked – SHOCKED! –

Those are some happy-ass people, there

Okay, I wasn’t shocked about anything, that was just the public image I’m projecting. It was a hell of a time, guys, and we’re totally doing that again next year, and every year following, if everyone stays cool.

Last night we had a ton of people show up at Black Bottle – a charming venue that Kendra found – and immediately start ordering drinks. We had some mingling, and around 7:20 we kicked up the Welcome slide deck, and had the reading of the NDA. Let me say that Sean really outdid himself with a very spot-on, but entirely inappropriate, NDA, and I expect the writing and reading of the NDA will become a very big deal indeed, every year.

What with cancellations and dropouts, we ended up with four very fine presentations. We assigned presenters pennames to protect the guilty, and we were off. I need to fill in some details here, and I will (especially with your help…my memory gets fuzzier the later in the evening I try to remember. You know, wine.) But here’s the outline:

The Dungeonmaster presented first…
Then Sir Fullofshit.
Interlude: Organizer discussion of Women in Technology
Sticks: SQL Server from the perspective of the cast of Gilligan’s Island
Ray of Sunshine: Women in Technology

The evening ended with announcement of winners, awarding of prizes, a general thank you and exodus.

We made something. We made a Thing, and it was really and truly awesome. I can’t express how cool, how heartwarming, and how much it was being among good friends who really let down their guard to have a rowdy, raunchy good time.

We’ll do it again next year; alumni will be invited first, then we’ll open it up to the general public.

We made a Thing. Thank you for making it with us.

Double Thank Yous to Kendra, for thinking of this, planning it, and generally making it happen. And another thank you to Pat Wright, who took all these awesome pictures and put them online.
