May as well…

Nobody reads this unless I point them at it, so may as well record the happenings of this week here. You know, so we have something to talk about during this week’s show.

It’s not even 11am on Monday, and we’ve already had a few big things:

  • Sean got called to work at 1am (2 hours after we hit the hay) and had a cluster -m mishap
  • The van battery died. Had to juggle life before the week could get started.
  • Freakonomics – food science
  • SQLDBA posted a link to a WIT SxSW article. Great article, but look at the comments!

Tuesday:

  • Had the slightly awkward call with the recruiter to say that I won’t be going back for a second interview. One, it’s over an hour’s drive. Two, the hiring manager fired my husband some years back, with prejudice. Shame really…she’d said to expect an offer…
  • Interesting: https://www.systemcenteradvisor.com/ (Link from @AdamMachanic)
  • Best disabled parking sign ever http://yfrog.com/gys5q1j (link from The Guild’s @TealSherer)
  • Blogged about IE/FF/Chrome, and got a hell of a response back. I should try these out, just for giggles…

Wednesday:

  • Went to bed early last night (8pm), up early today (4am) with some tea and toast and writing. Quiet in the house…nice.
  • Finally got to reading the horror story email from Monday, about filling up TempDB. That’ll make good fodder…
  • Superawesome tweet this morning  by @douglane4: A friendly reminder: Stay optimized, my friends. http://qkme.me/11yd
  • Also superawesome tweets: grrl_geek said “Behind every good woman…” Mladen: “…there’s me looking at her ass.”

Thursday

  • Finished and published my blog on Magic Tables. Got quite a lot of play on Twitter; I edited the post to add the relevant  bits from Paul Randal, Brent Ozar, et al.

Monday I also asked Twitter what movies you would say I HAVE to see. Here is an unsorted, unformatted list of responses:
