Tribal SQL update & call to action

So here’s where we are with the Tribal SQL book project…

The abstract submission date has passed, and I’ve assembled the 99 (99!!) abstracts in Excel form.

Next steps are simple.

  1. Choose abstracts, submit outline to Redgate.
  2. Inform submitters.
  3. Set deadlines for chapters, first edits, and tech edits.
  4. Get going.

This thing has dragged out just a little because November was dedicated to NaNoWriMo (see my personal blog if you’re curious), and since then I’ve been stuck.  The problem is #1 above. How on earth do I choose abstracts? Rough…I think I’ll start by getting you guys involved.

I set up a survey with the 19 “soft topic” abstracts for you to vote on. A few guidelines:

  • I left out names because I want to see what you think of the abstracts themselves.
  • These are rough abstracts, just something the author banged out and sent to me. I haven’t proofread or edited them. Keep that in mind when voting.
  • I’m not necessarily going to choose exactly what the crowd votes for, but it’ll definitely influence me.
  • Multiple answers are okay, but try not to pick “yes” and “no” on a single abstract, or I’ll probably ignore your vote.

Okay, go vote, if you dare: Tribal SQL “Soft Topic” Voting

And guys? Thanks.

Jen
