PASS Summit 2009 Countdown: 4 days

We still have to pack, print, and prep for the trip to the PASS Summit, but mentally, we are SO ready.  Here's the plan:

Sunday

Fly out, check into the Summit hotel and get settled. Start contacting our interviewees to find a time to meet.  So far we've tentatively scheduled short video shoots with these guys:

  • Itzik Ben-Gan
  • Paul Neilsen
  • Buck Woody
  • Bill Ramos
  • Grant Fritchey
  • Joe Celko
  • Alan White
  • Brian Knight
  • Mark Sousa
  • Paul Randal
  • Kim Tripp

Meet with the one or two that are free Sunday, and then sightseeing.

Monday

Register at the Summit and see if there's anything to see.  Meet with a couple more VIPs.  Again, maybe sightseeing.  And then the evening reception and quiz bowl.

Tuesday

I'll be keeping the labs and clinics and vendor areas in mind for free time over the next couple of days…  And today we begin the MidnightDBA Treasure Hunt giveaways. Remember to follow us on Twitter & have the updates sent to your phone for the best chance to win.

  • Virtualization Breakfast
  • Keynote, where Sean (and maybe I) will be at the blogger's table.
  • For the 10:15 session, I'm looking at Grant Fritchey's execution plans sessions.
  • Birds of a Feather Lunch
  • 1:30 session, maybe Jimmy May's disk partition alignment session.
  • Several sessions look good in the 3:00, I'll play it by ear
  • At 4:30 I'll have to choose between Alan White, Greg Low, and several other great speakers….what to do, what to do?
  • I've no idea what we're doing this evening, but I'm positive something will present itself.

Wednesday

Quest Breakfast

Day 2 of the MidnightDBA Treasure Hunt giveaways.

We're gonna get 2 copies of the SQL Server MVP Deep Dives book (benefiting warchild.org), and hit the signing event.  Since we're meeting with most (if not all) of the editors for the book, I think we'll get it signed and make it another MidnightDBA giveaway. Then if you win it, you can give the copy of the book you already bought to another less fortunate DBA.  It's good kharma on top of kharma!

I'm hitting the Women in Technology Lunch, and Sean has a SQL Tools Insiders talk with Bill Ramos et al.

Sessions and sessions!

Sometime today, I think, I do the Quest interview on the vendor floor. Woo-hoo!

Thursday

Last day of the MidnightDBA Treasure Hunt giveaways.  Twitter, twitter, tweet-tweet…

Aaaaand sessions.  And then we fly home.  I know, a little anticlimactic, but Thursday's so far away, you know?

Happy days, all.
