Shameless Sean Promotion (SQLPASS)

So the PASS Community Choice Session voting ends tonight. If I have not made this clear: Sean isn’t currently slated to speak at PASS, BUT he has one session in the running.

If you want Sean to speak at PASS, go vote for his session!
If not, go vote for whatever you do want.

Vote for the HAIR!

I like Sean. I like him as a DBA, and a speaker, a teacher, and all that personal stuff, too. He submitted some really good sessions against fierce competition, and I’d really like to see him voted in.

PASS members will find the link to vote in the email from PASS (a second email was sent out this week, so check your spam filter). Sean’s session is:

Have you been deploying SSIS with Powershell or are you just happy to see me?
Sean McCown

Managing SSIS packages in large environments can be a real challenge. This session will show you how to deploy, transfer, monitor, standardize, and automate your SSIS package environment using Powershell. You’ll learn how to keep packages on data marts in perfect synch with each other, deploy packages to multiple servers, consolidate packages to a single server, enforce naming and security standards, and much more. The session starts with the basics and builds up to a final script that gives you a completely automated hands-off solution for deploying any package to any server in your organization. You will honestly be wondering how you ever got by without this.

Speaker Bio: I’m a SQL Server MVP and have been involved with SQL Server since 1995. I’ve also been working with multi-terabyte, high-transaction DBs since before they were popular. I’m a Contributing Editor and the sole database expert for InfoWorld Magazine which means I also touch DB2, Oracle, Sybase, and any other DB out there. I’ve also written for SQL Server Magazine, SQL Server Standard, SSWUG, and SQLServerCentral.com.

Session Goal #1: Learn to deploy, export, and transfer SSIS packages to and from one or many servers.

Session Goal #2: Learn to enforce naming standards, security standards, and versioning standards.
