Here’s a true behind the scenes moment for you, my Groupie friends.

I had been asking around about sponsorship to get me to #SQLRally in May…

…and everyone (a few companies) turned me down. I went about it somewhat the same way that I had to get sponsorship for SQL Saturday last year, but I realize I need to do it even more like that, with official charts and papers, and with more dedication (and asking more companies).

However, one party came back and said, we’d really like to sponsor your travel. But due to circumstance X and Y, we’d like to remain anonymous.

Wow.  Somebody wanted to support me as a speaker, just for the goodwill of the thing. I’m touched, honored, and happy not to be out the plane ticket.

For the record, guys: No, I don’t have a sugardaddy/momma. And there were no strings. They just wanted to keep up the good relationship with the MidnightDBAs, and this is how they did it.  If we get the chance to help these folks out in the future (our out their kindness), you can bet we’ll do it.
